Yellow morel from the "esculenta" family

I showed you the beginning of its growth in this post.

This is currently the only morel of this group I found this year. It grows in my biotope #3.

Here's the same morel few days later.

The cap hasn't grown much but we can see very large cells of this specimen. In the next picture, we can clearly see the massive stipe of the morel.

Last year on this station, I had put away those morels in the variety "rotunda". This year, if I look closer, it is difficult to have a strong opinion. The morel of the group "esculenta" could very well be stored in the varieties "rotunda", "rigida" or "crassipes". The genus Morchella is not easy to grasp.

While this is great 2012 season for morels of "elata" group and for bell morels - Verpa conica, it is poor for morels of "esculenta" group. The reason is probably the very rainy weather of this April following a very dry March. All is not lost, as is always the possibility of a later growth in other habitats.
